Der Mensch war schon immer von der Zeitlichkeit fasziniert und hat Fiktionen über die Zeit geschaffen, die es ihm ermöglichten, über seine Gegenwart oder Vergangenheit nachzudenken bzw. die Zukunft zu imaginieren. In der portugiesischsprachigen Welt, in historischen Kontexten also, die von Kolonialität, Gewalt und Trauma geprägt sind, bringen die literarischen und filmischen Fiktionen, die diese Kontexte in Szene setzen, die lineare Zeit aufgrund der komplexen Darstellungsformen durcheinander; sie lösen sie nachgerade auf und es kommt zu zeitlichen Verwerfungen und Verschmelzungen. Vor dem Hintergrund des Konzepts des destempo reflektieren die in diesem Band versammelten Beiträge unterschiedliche Repräsentationen von Zeit sowie die zahlreichen Schichten, Überschneidungen und Brüche von Zeitlichkeiten in portugiesischsprachigen literarischen und filmischen Texten.

Os estudos apresentados neste volume examinam o entrelaçamento da corporeidade e da temporalidade na literatura brasileira a partir de perspectivas interdisciplinares. Os textos explicitam, em algumas narrativas, o protagonismo da própria doença e a relação ambivalente que se constrói entre pessoas doentes ou envelhecidas e seus antigos ‘Eus’. Neste contexto, são problematizados distintos modos de exclusão de corpos que, não sendo mais jovens ou ‘saudáveis’, são mantidos fora da esfera pública. O silêncio e a solidão, mas também a urgência de viver para contar, consistem muitas vezes nas forças motrizes das narrativas e dos poemas estudados.

Kultureller Kannibalismus – als Metapher für die Einverleibung und Transformation des Anderen – gilt insbesondere im Brasilien des 20. Jahrhunderts als poetologisches und kulturtheoretisches Paradigma. Die im Modernismus der 1920er Jahre proklamierte Bewegung der Anthropophagie zelebriert das Verschlingen europäischer Kulturformen als Medium des Widerstands sowie einer eigenen Identität. Der ›böse Wilde‹, der aufsässige Menschenfresser, wird zum Symbol für Transkulturation schlechthin. Als Modell kultureller Aneignung hält die Anthropophagie unter dem Schlagwort eines ›kannibalischen Übersetzens‹ Einzug in den translationswissenschaftlichen Diskurs. Die Fragen, denen die vorliegende Studie nachgeht, sind folgende: Inwiefern lässt sich das Lesen und Übersetzen des Anderen als Akt des Verschlingens denken? Steht die kannibalische Metaphorik aufgrund der ihr inhärenten Gewalt nicht stets im Zeichen des Verlusts – des Eigenen wie des Fremden? The recovery of Salvador de Bahia on May 1, 1625 was one of the most significant military achievements of the 17th century. The Spanish and the Portuguese Present Perfect in Discourse

This monograph presents a theoretical and empirical study of the Spanish and the Portuguese Present Perfect (PP). The innovative claim is that the two tense forms operate in the field of tension between temporal quantification and temporal reference. Based on this approach, it presents the first in-depth study that explicitly takes into account the level of discourse. The following questions are investigated: How do the Spanish and the Portuguese PP interact with discursive factors, such as adjacent tense forms? What kind of discursive meaning do they generate? Which diachronic trends do their discourse functions reveal? It is argued that while the Spanish PP tends to a referential drift (traditionally labelled as an aoristic drift), the Portuguese PP tends to preserve and specialize its quantificational meaning. The book is of interest to all those working on the Present Perfect or generally in the field of tense and aspect in discourse.
